Final Statement of Intent

Final Statement of Intent The elements that will make my music video part narrative is the use of actors, the links between the lyrics of the song and the content of the music video. The music video will be structured like a story that has the purpose of spreading awareness of the negative effects of drugs. Narrative music videos are more engaging for the audience. The two settings in my music video will include, the inside a house in the living room, kitchen and dining room, all of which will have objects such as flowers and food that are subject to my chosen colour scheme. I will also have a dark background will red lighting. The main representations in my music video will be age and gender. This will express to the audience that this problem can happen to anyone. There will be many times in the music video that will include lip synching. The lip synching will be part of the performative elements of the music video. It will be mostly the main character that is lip synching. ...

5 planned sections of my music video

Image
Storyboard for 5 section Section 1 The video will begin in the dark with a spot light highlighting the main character. The light will be red to represent bad health, danger and anger. This will be shot outside in front of my house, however because it will be dark it will be unclear where this scene is being shot. The character will be lip synching and smoking to establish the message of the music video. The videos will be short and will jump to the same character walking through the streets towards a house where it's mid day. Section 2 The main character will go through my front door smiling. All the shots will be short cutting to different angles of the door. The door has hints of red on it which is conforming to my mise-en-scene. The girl will walk into the family room where her family and friends are. The camera will then pan around the room introducing the actors to the viewers. I will have red flowers on the coffee table in the middle of the room and pieces o...

Story plan

Story plan for the video The different representations that will be included in my music video is age and gender. In my music video I will be including moments of both narrative and performative elements. The element that will make my music video partly a narrative music video is that the content of the song (the lyrics) will link with the content of the narrative. Another element is that I am going to use actors in the music video. Some of the elements of the music video that will make it performative will be the use of lip synching. Brief synopsis: My music video will have a family sitting in a living room laughing/ pretending to be ok. The camera will pan around the room introducing the viewer to the characters. Then the camera will focus on one individual and flash to another part of their lives which shows the effects of drugs. The flashes will be shot in black and white, within these shots the actors will lip-synch to the song. This will be repeated with all the charact...

Images for the website

When I am shooting the music video I will take photos of the actors to further create a link between the music video and the website. I will make sure the photos are not blurry and are clean without any distractions that draw the eyes away from the focus of the images, which is the people. The characters are the way I will make my protest clear. There will be a mixture of mid-shots, close ups and extreme close ups. Close ups focus on the emotions of the people, and the extreme close ups will have the purpose of creating a connection with the viewer by gaining sympathy for them. The extreme close ups will be of a crying eye or lips. I will have a section on the website with photos that pose as behind the scene photos, showing the scene and props used. However, this will be presented in a different part of the website to maintain the structure of the website. The photos will be presented in the side columns of the website, with information in the middle. There will be no white gaps...

Logo/ brand icon

Image
Logo/ brand icon for my chosen artist The font is sans-serif, informal and modern, looking slightly like graffiti appealing to the age demographic of 16-25 years.  On my website I have changed the font in order to match the other font on the website, however I would have done this differently and used this font instead.  I have included an image of a music note to add the music element to the artist logo.

Treatment Draft

Draft Treatment A treatment is a document that presents the story idea of your music video. A video treatment is your best effort in defining your project, presenting a clear synopsis of your story, developing your production and organising its purpose. It is often the first and only change you have in presenting a commercial project- making a pitch. It should also include information on your target audience and how you are attracting them, location plans, equipment plans, crew roles, effects in video. My target audience is the party type, they can be anyone it's just one social group. I am going to attract my target audience as it will be a music video that is considered sheek, stylish and modern, this will therefore attract the younger generation that is the target audience stated in the brief. I plan to use my house as a location in my music video, a communal space, my lounge. The cast will be representative of a family, grandad, mother, father, daughters. This is to show...

How will my music video attract the 'perfect audience member'

Image
The audience stated in the brief is a socially conscious, 16-25 year old, middle to upmarket demographic. My music video will attract this audience as it will have people of a similar age group therefore they will be able to relate to the video. Also, the video will have visual aesthetics similar to popular music videos therefore attracting this audience.  Impressionable young people that are socially conscious but are subjects to peer pressure, people at this age feel obligated to experiment with drugs as everyone else is doing them. Therefore my music video may provide guidance so that they are less tempted to making dangerous mistakes that could cost them their lives. My audience member will have a lifestyle of partying, and they like to go to clubs. They drink alcohol on a regular basis and use drugs which could be due to peer pressure from their friends. My music video will attract the perfect audience member as it is a mainstream song and a popular artist. Also,...
